Caroline Smith

Caroline is a New York–based copy editor. She discovered her love for the written word as a child, hand-writing and illustrating stories about the foxes that would visit the woods in her backyard and giggling at typos in magazines.

 

She graduated with a B.A. in English from Stony Brook University in 2014. After getting her start interning with Hearst Magazines, she worked at indie book publisher Square One, overseeing the development and editing of various projects. She helmed the style guide for the popular animal brand The Dodo and currently proofreads everything from political analyses to crossword puzzles for New York Magazine. (Full résumé here.)

She is an avid reader and writer with a particular love for well-crafted characters, poetic descriptions, and Victorian humor. Her life goals include publishing her own book, running a bakery, and competing on Jeopardy!
